Picture this: a spectator picks a card from the deck, giving it a good old show-off to the audience whilst the magician pretends to be oblivious (spoiler: he’s not). After placing the card back in the deck and giving it a shuffle, the magician boldly claims he can find the chosen card in just two attempts. So confident is he that he slaps down a $5 wager under his shoe (a safe and visible spot, obviously). He fans the deck and makes his first attempt. But, alas, the card revealed isn’t the one the spectator chose! One more wrong guess, and the spectator’s quids in! But wait, for his final attempt, the magician pulls out... a folded $5 bill! Since the bet ended up where the selected card was, logic dictates that the chosen card must be hiding where the bill was. Lo and behold, there’s a face-down card under the magician’s shoe. He flips it over, and wouldn’t you know it? It’s the spectator's selected card! The magician triumphantly wins the bet!
